Those are their manifests for sure! So - Francesco did at least visit New York (if not stay in NY.) I had found nothing on him, so I thought he never came over. My understanding was that their father owed money on their farm (they were all farm laborers) and that the sons would all go back and forth from Stigliano to New York to make money and bring it back to Italy to pay the bills.

Thanks!

Sophia, that makes sense. No doubt there are more manifests and census records to be found. I looked for a picture of Giuseppe's ship without success. I thought it would be nice for Katie to have. Valarie

Merry Christmas! Glad to be of help, too.

FYI - Found a listing for "Domenica Marmone" on the Canadian Passenger lists on Ancestry bu I can't access it.

That's interesting. Maybe someone who can access it will be kind enough to see if that's her. Thanks!

I found another passenger list I wanted to post here. Do you use imageshack or photobucket to do that? I have not used either. Is it necessary to "register" on those sites? Thanks!

I believe the following connects to your Rienzi ancestry:

Nicola Rienzi b. about 1817 married to an Aloisa (Luisa) Colangelo (b. about 1823). She died in Stigliano on June 25, 1900 (record #93). They married in Stigliano on April 16, 1843.

Children:
Domenico Rienzi b. in Stigliano Nov 1848. Died in Stigliano on June 4, 1849 (record #2).

Domenico Rienzi b. in Stigliano on 15 April 1850. Died in Stigliano on June 29, 1851 (record #115)

Francesco Rienzi b. in Stigliano on May 6, 1852. He married Margherita Abbruzzese in Stigliano on Oct 1, 1876.

Domenico Rienzi b. in Stigliano on Aug 8, 1855. He married Annunziata Maria Cacioppi in Stigliano on Oct 30, 1880.

Maria Rienzi b. in Stigliano on July 20, 1864.

It's possible that the parents of Nicola Rienzi (1817) were Pietrantonio Rienzi (about 1795) and Aurelia Giannantonio. If this is the case, then Nicola (1817) had a sister named Margherita Rienzi born abt 1828 who was married to a Giuseppe Colangelo.

I also believe that Nicola Rienzi (1817) had a daughter named Aurelia Rienzi born about 1845 who was named for his mother, Aurelia Giannantonio.

I have in my database a Pietrantonio Rienzi born about the same time as the one I have estimated as being born in 1795. He was married to an Antonia Polidoro and they had a son named Francesco Rienzi born in Stigliano about 1835 who married a woman by the name of Rosa Maria Trupi on Nov 25, 1865 (Vol #56). So it is also possible that this Pietrantonio Rienzi is the same as the one I have estimated at being born in 1795, and that this is him with a first wife. I do not have information in my database to confirm this though, but it is something you may eventually want to pursue.

I am speechless Maestra36... It's very generous of you to reply with all of this information. I will take some time tomorrow to absorb. How did you have all this research on the Rienzi and Mormando families? Have you been in touch with the Stigliano comune?

Thank you SO much!!! I will be in touch!

I hope all of the information that I posted will connect to your ancestry. Years ago, I did extensive research of the microfilmed state civil records for the town of Stigliano, and I even did a lot of the microfilms for the Province of Matera to get information for my ancestry when the records in the town were lacking the information I needed. I was primarily researching the Colangelo surname for myself, and some other surnames for cousins. The Rienzi had marriages with some of my Colangelos or some of my cousins' ancestors which did not relate to my own ancestry. I may have some additional pieces of unrelated Rienzi info in my database, that I will be happy to share with you, but will not be able to post that information until after Feb 5th. I believe if you click on my username, you will be able to email me directly, but please do not do so until after Feb 5th, as I will have a week without internet access.

The following information is what I have in my database that I had extracted from the Stigliano state civil records on the Rienzi surname. The list is by no means complete. These are the ones I extracted because they may have in some way connected to my own ancestry. I hope there are some entries that connect to your ancestry too. There are some Rienzi in Stigliano who were part of the upper class. You may see the words Don and Donna before their names-indicating Lord and Lady. These would not be part of your ancestry, sorry.
