Wow, you are really making some progress on your genealogy. I wish your luck with your future research. Now there is micrfilm for the towns that you mentioned at you Local Family History Center. They cost about $3.50 a roll depending on your location.

Hi maple 62,
Any chance that "Pierro" could be "Di Pierro" or De Pierro"? I'm researching Di Pierro/De Pierro in Armento, Potenza area.

Hi JC,
That's interesting as I have both a Nunziata Manzo (b 1809 & married Domenico Dalaimo) and Maria Tersea Diriso (b 2nd April 1866, daughter of Vincenzo Diriso and Margherita Mega) in my tree.
In England we have a community of San Maurese, and I know a Deufemia family. Their surname is spelt Deufemia and not D'EUFAMIA as you've spelt it. I also have a Deufemia in my lineage somewhere but couldn't find it when writing this.
Are the other names Morace, Floro/Flora, Scarpetti etc also from San Mauro Forte?
Michael

Hi jcsm,
I have a Prospera, Mauroantonio and Giuseppe 'Pierro' in my tree, who all originated from San Mauro Forte, Matera. Infact, my own godfather is also a 'Pierro'.
Sorry I can't be of any help on this one.
Michael.

I also have deufamia/d'eufamia, floro, scarpetti, and morace in my tree from san mauro forte.
Giovannina "Jenny/Jennie" Floro was my great grandmother, married to Carmino Dinota. Her parents were Antonio Floro and Maria Morace.

We would be happy to help you look up your US records if you want to give us a bit more information.
This site may help place your family in likely location(s) in Italy.
http://www.gens.labo.net/it/cognomi/
type your surname in the 'cognome' box and click the red arrow
You may want to start your own post so your family stays separate.
