Maria........

Ignazio is also in the NY group for arrivals...so good idea about documenting them...

Also, think that Bernardo is going to Chicago to meet with Giuseppe...and going to 516 W. Oak street......wonder if they were living in Chicago rather then Alton or Louisiana in 1910?.....so confusing. The ED's for W. Oak are 954, 961, 962, 963...

Off to the dentists so not a lot of time this AM.

Maria, VJ, Johanna........hang in there...

You know...ch in Italian is pronouced hard, like a "k". But in English, a ch would be "cha", soft. So it could be like Loo-chee-a....like Santa Lucia....

Other possibility is that it is the feminine for of something like Luca....which in that family might make sense!

Oh, well. Since I don't speak Italian at all probably not the one to make guesses about the nature of the name...forgive my transgressions.......

I've been looking for manifests with the given name Luchina, Luchine... and they do exist...

It could be "Lucia" like Santa Lucia or it could sound like Looo-Kee -yia... Loo-keen-a ?

Like Luca...

Hope all went well at the dentists... :P

WOW EVERYONE!!! ALL of this is AMAZING!!!!
I am overwelmed!! I just started looking at everything you have all found!

I am still looking at the things you posted...have printed out everything going over it.

VJ....I am not sure if Luchine sister was Johanna...I just have her listed as the Mrs. Frank Vicari in New York...that was on Luchines OBIT.

BUT...I will try and make some phone calls this weekend...see what I can find out...I will try and call the little old lady (if she can remember things) ...she is a cousin to my dad...but havent talked to her in a year or so...but will try her on Sunday. Hopefully she will know if the Mrs. Frank Vicari's name was Johanna.
I will have to get back with you on that.
HMMMM>...I wonder if that is who I was named after...????? Johanna....Joann????? hmmmmm!!???

You know..there were some Vicaris that lived across from us when I was growing up...my mom would always say we were kin to them...long ways down the line...but I was so young then that I never asked how.

Ok...back to reading and looking at the Forum....ALL of you are AMAZING!!! This is ALL GREAT!!!
THANKS so much!!!!!!!

Another lead? - missing 1910 census
How about Missouri?
(although Alton is awfully close to the Illinois/Missouri border...)

Essgee: "Gaspare's 1930 census listing indicated he arrived 1912...so, he could have come and gone. One thing I did catch, the first child of Gaspare and Concetta born in 1914 and in Louisianna. Now, they married after 1912 most likely which may put the family in LA in the 1910 census...or maybe southern Mississippi...lots of Italians there in the Oyster fishing industry, etc."

VJ....at one time I did see this CARLO ST. GEORGE....but it threw me a little....said he was divorced with DEPENDENTS.

I knew at one time he was married before he married my aunt CARRIE..(my moms sister)...(so 2 brothers married 2 sisters)....and of what I KNOW OF......JUST ONE COUSIN...THEY HAD ONE CHILD, MARY C ST GEORGE. She lives here in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
But of course she is one of the ones that will NOT tell me too much...just says her dad was born in ALTON.

So what do you think of him having DEPENDENTS on the ARMY records????

I did find a Rosalie St. George death cert....was about 1 month old...Carlo St. George listed as father from PATTERSON, LOUISIANA....mother was Mary Renguso...from New Orleans, Louisiana....that is pretty close to Patterson......but this ROSALIE died in 1931...have to find out when my Uncle Carlo and my Aunt Carrie married. I think my cousin, Mary C was born approx 1945 to 1947...will have to call her (if she will even tell me)...LOL. BUT...I do have an aunt living...(my moms other sister) ..she will know.

The info on my dad is correct...I do have that record...you know what is sad tho....the EARLIEST pictures I have of my dad is when he was in the army...then 1 wedding pic of him and my mom wedding.

OK...study on this one...see what you think!!! ????????
I will find out more later and let you know.
Going to get ready for work....you have a GOOD day!
Be back this evening if my computer quits messing up...DSL...having it fixed today, hopefully...Could NOT get on much last night.....AAAGGHHH!!
THANKS!!!

She KNOWS...she just WON"T say!!!!!
